Original Belgian Napoleonic Wars Flintlock Short Musket Dated 1811

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This wonderful short musket was made in Belgium in 1811 a year before Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte of France who then controlled most of Continental Europe embarked on his extraordinary invasion of Russia in 1812. A campaign which eventually led to his downfall in 1813 and then finally again in 1815.

Features a 29" barrel with an overall length of 44. Originally designed for use by Sappers or Artillerymen. It is in excellent condition and despite clearly being over 200 years old looks very close to what it did the day it was issued.

The barrel is marked ELG indicating Belgian manufacture and bear various inspector and proof marks. The iron lock is plain but has a military inspector mark visible close to the cock. All the mounts are iron and appear in very clean and crisp condition.

This weapon has never seen hard use and probably spent most of its useful life in an armory rack than on any battlefield!
