Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a lovely little British "Box-Lock" style Pocket Flintlock pistol, featuring a 2 inch "turn off" .42" bore barrel, which at this time is unfortunately frozen to the frame. There is no maker marked on the frame, not uncommon for late 18th century pistols, and it has some lovely engraved designs on both sides. It is marked with EX on the right side of the frame, which we have not been able to identify. There are no proof marks, so it was most likely made in Birmingham, which did not have a formal proof house until the early 19th century.
The pistol follows the classic style, with some nice line engraving, and is fitted with a very nice checkered slab-sided curved grip, which is in very good shape. It has some lovely features that make it very useful as a pocket pistol, including trigger that only folds out when the pistol is fully cocked, and a sliding safety on the top that locks the frizzen closed. Overall condition is very nice, and it has a great look. The lock is fully functional, holding at half-cock and firing at full. The folding trigger folds out at full cock, and must be manually returned to the closed position after firing.
A really nice early 19th Century British pocket flintlock pistol, ready to research and display!
