GUNMAKER TO HIS MAJESTY is what is printed in gold along the top of this really substantial iron Blunderbuss barrel measuring 21.5-inches in length and 1 5/8" across the muzzle. The barrel thickness is so substantial that the muzzle measures 2 1/8" across including the barrel walls!
The barrel bears British Proof marks and has a silver foresight applied like an ink blot in a four armed star pattern. The high quality flintlock mechanism in marked H.W.MORTIMER and the London Street Address of 89 FLEET is continued on the brass side plate. Lovely walnut full stock with all brass engraved mounts including three ramrod pipes holding the original steel button head ramrod.
This is a truly magnificent quality specimen that may well have seen service in one of King George III's households. Overall length 37.5 Inches
