Original British Napoleonic Royal Navy Very Large Copper Quart Tankard marked "God Bless Lord Nelson" with Fouled Anchor

Item Description

Original Item: One of a Kind. Possibly a Seaman's drinking vessel or water pitcher for swabbing out fired Cannon barrels. This very large quart tankard looks great, measuring over 6" tall and and almost another 6" across it's flared bottom tapering to 4" across the rim. It is fitted with large copper sheet handle, which extends the overall height to almost 7". Like most of these we see, the body is made from sheet copper, with a brazed seam under the handle, and a crimped on base. These were also plated with tin on the inside to keep the copper from affecting the flavor of drinks.

The side of the tankard has a Naval "Fouled Anchor" engraving, which in the middle is marked:

God Blefs
Lord Nelfon

Dating to the early 1800's possibly even to after the Battle of Trafalgar that took NELSON'S life in 1805. Polished from being on display for many years.

Very appealing, and ready to display!
