Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. W.J. Acot was a London gunsmith, who operated a shop from 1820 to 1830, not long after the Napoleonic wars. This is a very nice "Overcoat Pistol", intended to be carried by Gentlemen on their way home. They were relatively small and easy to conceal, giving a good amount of protection in their day.
This example is fitted with a 7 1/2" octagonal barrel marked LONDON, and is 11 1/4" in overall length. There are also British proofs on the left side of the barrel. It has a lovely light checkered bag shaped grip, and the lock and other iron fittings are all nicely engraved.
Condition is quite nice, though the grip was at one point broken through the wrist, which has now been repaired. It still retains its original bone-tipped wooden ramrod under the barrel. The lock functions correctly, holding at half cock, and firing at full.
Ready to display!
