Item Description
Original Items. One Set Only. I.M.A. has purchased a small Collection of significant British Naval Historical Objects salvaged from ships from ADMIRAL HORATIO LORD NELSON'S Naval Career. This is a lovely PAIR of Decorative Wooden Goblets, each bearing a Silver diamond shaped plaque stating:
FROM THE TIMBER REMOVED
FROM
H.M.S. VICTORY
1905
CENTENARY
Standing 6 1/2" tall and 4 1/2" across at the lip and foot these, also show a "Rampant Lion" Crest amid the engravings on the Silver plaques. The HMS Victory at that point was almost 150 years old, and in a sorry state, which made its future uncertain.
These are another Tribute to England's greatest Sailor, Admiral Horatio Lord Nelson, who is still greatly revered as the commander of the British Fleet during the Battle of TRAFALGAR, where he was killed. This battle was the turning point that really saved England from French Invasion, which led to the eventual downfall of NAPOLEON BONAPARTE at the Battle of WATERLOO in 1815.
