Original British Victorian Navy Parallel Ruler for Charts by Army & Navy C.S.L. in Wooden Case c. 1870

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a very nice British Victorian Era Parallel ruler, as used by the Royal Navy. The ruler measures 18 1/4" x 2 1/2" and is relatively heavy, being made entirely of brass, and is intended for use on Naval Charts. It has two linked roller "wheels" built into it, so that it can be easily moved parallel to its previous position, a very useful feature when dealing with maps.

The ruler is in very good condition, and marked on the top with Army & Navy C.S.L., which stands for the Army & Navy Co-operative Stores Limited. located in Victoria Street, London. This was a well-known military outfitter during the late Victorian age, selling everything from firearms to hats.

The ruler comes in a lovely wooden case, measuring 19 1/4"L x 3 1/2"W x 1 3/4", which has felt padding on the inside for securing the ruler. The case and ruler are both in very good condition, and fully functional.

A very interesting piece of British Naval history, ready to display!
