Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is the time that we have had one of these somewhat impractical flare pistols. Based on the MARK VI Webley Revolver
this is the Signal Pistol utilizing 1 1/2" Flares. It launches this from a massive 10 inch heavy-walled barrel, making the flare gun quite front heavy, but very impressive looking.
It is marked on the barrel with the date and manufacturer information:
1916
WEBLEY & SCOTT Ltd.
LONDON AND BIRMINGHAM
Next to that, and also above the trigger, it is marked No.1 MARK "I", indicating this was the first signal pistol of this type they had produced. The serial number 13772 is marked on the underside of the trigger assembly, the barrel, and the barrel lock. Due to the weight, they were not popular, and were replaced by pistols designed from the ground up, as opposed to adapting a revolver design.
Condition is quite good, considering the age. The steel has a nice patina of age, and the grips are in excellent condition.
Very heavy steel construction, operates only as DOUBLE ACTION. A rare WWI Signal Pistol ready to display. Totally impressive!
