Item Description
Original Item. Only One Available. This is a very scarce British WWII poster board measuring 19 x 29”. Featuring a dynamic battle scene depicting British RAF planes shooting down Japanese aircraft into the sea with men clinging to life on an upturned boat in the foreground and the explosions spraying up in front of palm trees in the background.
The caption reads:
Thirteen Japanese flying-boats were smashed in a heavy Royal Air Force raid
on the harbour of Port Blair in the Andaman Islands.
SMASH JAPANESE
AGGRESSION!
The artwork was done by Roy Anthony Nockolds (1911-1979). It’s very difficult to find any British propaganda featuring Japan, as their focus was primarily on Germany. This is a British-printed example, with the bottom left reading:
PRINTED IN ENGLAND BY FIELD SONS & CO. LTD. BRADFORD 51-2907
A great example of a rare poster, with some damage across, and it’s been mounted to a board meaning it is not foldable or rollable. There are two small grommets at the top for hanging. Comes ready for further research and display.
