Original Civil War Era Austrian Lorenz-style 1849 Percussion Conversion Sporterized Musket

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Original item: Only One Available. Well these do not come out of the attic that often but here it is. Deliberately NOT CLEANED so you can all see what nearly 200 years of attic storage does to anything left to itself. It presents quite well as is, or could be cleaned up into a real showpiece.

This is an Austrian Percussion Lorenz style musket, most probably imported for use in the Civil War, in .69" caliber. It was originally made as a flintlock musket, but it was converted to percussion before being exported. It was was then "sporterized", being cut to half stock for civilian hunting use. It has all steel fittings: Butt plate, trigger guard and side plate. There are some markings on the left side of the barrel, but they cannot be read due to the oxidation/dirt on the barrel.

A very nice 19th century military musket, converted for hunting. Ready to clean, or display as is!
