Original French First Indochina War Named Signals Corps Insignia, Photos and Document Grouping

Item Description

Original Items: Only One Lot Available. Now this is a rather fantastic grouping! This grouping dates back to the 1950s, mainly the early half. The First Indochina War (generally known as the Indochina War in France, and as the Anti-French Resistance War in Vietnam) began in French Indochina from 19 December 1946 to 20 July 1954 between France and Việt Minh (Democratic Republic of Vietnam), and their respective allies. Việt Minh was led by Võ Nguyên Giáp and Hồ Chí Minh.[ Most of the fighting took place in Tonkin in Northern Vietnam, although the conflict engulfed the entire country and also extended into the neighboring French Indochina protectorates of Laos and Cambodia.

The items in this grouping no doubt belonged to a French soldier who actually saw service in country during the conflict. The best items in this grouping have to be the photos, which total approximately 132 images. The images show a plethora of different types of military scenarios from active patrolling in full combat gear, training, setting up defensive positions and more. Some of our personal favorites are the early helicopters that can be seen amongst the pages of the sheet protectors.

Other items include Sergeant Pierre Charollois’s dog tag, DUIs, an American Presidential Unit Citation and a gold bullion embroidered Signals Corps sleeve diamond, all offered in excellent condition. Other items include various types of official military documents which are still able to be read easily.

A fantastic grouping that comes more than ready for further research and display.
