Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. Here we have a lovely Napoleonic Era French flintlock pocket pistol, marked CHERON on the lock and A PARIS on the top of the half octagonal barrel. We have not been able to find any information on this maker, however there were many working in Paris at the time which to this day remain unidentified, which is unlikely to change in the future.
The pistol is small and easily concealable, the design being essentially a scaled down flintlock pistol similar to the Gendarme pistols of the time. It is rather plain in design, with polished steel mounts, and measures just 8 inches overall with a 3 1/2" barrel with a 0.48" bore. It also features a ramrod under the barrel, however it looks to either have been repaired, or a period fabricated replacement.
Condition is very nice, showing wear from age and use, and shows a lovely polished steel patina on the metalwork. The wood stock is solid, with no major damage or issues, just a small wood graft repair on the front right muzzle area. The lock is functional, however it does not hold at half cock.
A charming example, ready to display!
