Item Description
Original Item. Only One Available. This is a killer piece of WWI trench art, a long piece of an artillery shell fragment used to make a “Meat Fork”, which measures roughly 16½” long. The “ricasso” is marked:
EXPLOSION
11 JANUAR
19 LILLE 16
This denotes that the piece of shrapnel came from an explosion at Lille on January 11th, 1916, a very interesting bit of provenance for this great piece. It is definitely a bit hefty at 1.1lbs, but it would definitely ensure a good hold.
The fork has some wear and cracking but is a phenomenal display piece, obviously not meant to be used for eating. A really fantastic piece of trench art perfect for any WWI collection. Comes ready for further research and display.
