Item Description
Original Item: One of a Kind This is how we like to think the Fighting men in the Imperial German Army passed their free time. Drinking Beer!
Below the picture is the caption Truppenübungsplatz Hammelburg, or the Hammelburg Training area. The camp was started in 1895 as a training area for the Bavarian Army with nearby troop housing. It still is in use today as a German Bundeswehr and U.N. forces training facility.
The photograph is actually dated 1901, but these twelve guys appear just as they did in 1914 upon the outbreak of hostilities.
Measuring 11 1/2" X 9 1/2" fully framed, this is a quality rendering/photograph professionally matted and framed at the time.
