Original German Style Continental Percussion Pistol with Octagonal Damascus Twist Barrel - Circa 1840

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This looks very Germanic, but then again may have been made by a German Immigrant here in the United States circa 1840. This has a very nice "Continental" style stock, with a very comfortable checkered grip, with a swell at the bottom. The Octagonal barrel measures 7 1/2", and is fitted with relatively standard notch and blade sights. The barrel is spiral "Damascus" laminated steel, and the bore measures about .50", and is finely rifled.

The metal fittings are all engraved, which is partly worn away due to use. The stock looks to be solid, with just a bit of cracking around the side plate. The lock functions, though the tumbler is worn, so a hard trigger pull can discharge the lock at half cock. The original ramrod is also unfortunately missing, and there looks to be a crack in the barrel tang.

A very nice German style percussion pistol, ready to display!
