Item Description
Original Item: One-of-a-kind. German 2cm FLAK Ammunition box, early war style with metal end handles (missing) and originally painted ordnance tan. Nicely stenciled in paint on one end "2cm Patr (Tr.)" which stands for for "2cm Patronen Tropen" (2cm Ammunition Tropical). This ammunition box was specifically packed for use in tropical climates. Interior f box is lined in tin with a gasket rubber like material around the top to make it water proof.
The top of the box was painted in black paint with home address by an American USGI in order to send home trophies or war at the concluding of World War Two.
Box measures approximately: 26.5" x 10" x 10".
The Flak 30 (Flugzeugabwehrkanone 30) and improved Flak 38 were 20 mm anti-aircraft guns used by various German forces throughout World War II. It was not only the primary German light anti-aircraft gun but by far the most numerously produced German artillery piece throughout the war. It was produced in a variety of models, notably the Flakvierling 38 which combined four Flak 38 autocannons onto a single carriage.
