Original Item: Only One Available. After the collapse of Czechoslovakia in 1938 to the Germans, the Czech Arms Industry was converted to produce weapons for German Troops. This included the Czech VZ 24 Mauser Rifle, which was re-designated VZ24(t), as in German the word Czechoslovakia starts with a "t".
The VZ24t bayonets produced under German occupation were made without muzzle ring, and this example is marked on the ricasso with German three letter code dot, for Waffenwerke Brünn in Czechoslovakia. This factory was the famous Zbrojovka Brno in Brno, Czechoslovakia before being captured by Germany during WWII. The other side bears serial number 828 / d, only visible by sliding the blade buffer gently down the blade. The pommel and frog stud are both marked with Waffenamt Eagle / 63, the correct inspection marking for Waffenwerke Brünn.
This bayonet looks to have seen a good amount of service, and interesting it has had an HJ National Youth Organization diamond insignia inlaid into the one of the grip scales. It is a bit loose, and missing a good amount of the red enamel, but otherwise is in good shape. The scabbard is slightly bent, and does have a big dent on the front, however this does not interfere with sheathing the blade. The leather frog is definitely worn, with a missing rivet at the top, and looks to be for a different bayonet, which is why it does not quite fit correctly.
A very interesting example of a German occupation era VZ24(t) bayonet with an added HJ insignia. Ready to research and display!
