Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This fantastic set of first aid equipment nearly all bearing WW2 dates and contained in a classic excellent condition brown leather German WWII issue first aid leather medium pattern medic case.

The case features a carry handle on top, multiple compartments inside and a maker’s marking on the back D.R.K. Sanitätslager Babelsberg 28. The case shows some minor scuffing from wear and use, but is in very good condition overall. The case measures 8" x 7 ½" x 3”. Included in the set are the following pieces-

- Glass tube of tablets, most of which have turned to dust, but some still retain their form. Tube is corked and in great shape.
- 1942 dated Bandage by Paul Hartmann A.-G. in Paris.
- Bayer brand aspirin tin. No pills remaining inside.
- Small green tin marked Salbe (ointment / salve) with tube of Borsalbe (Boron ointment / salve) and small metal tube of Lavendel Ammoniak-Tupfer (Lavender Ammonia Swabs).
- Medical scissors, tweezers, and spoon.

History of the German Red Cross (DRK)

The DRK, "Deutsches Rotes Kreuz" (German Red Cross), a voluntary civil assistance organization originally instituted in 1864, was officially acknowledged by the Geneva Convention in 1929. In December 1937 it gained status as a legally recognized organization by the NSDAP. As with other essential services in Third Reich Germany, it came under control of the NSDAP in late 1938 under the auspices of the Ministry of the Interior's Social Welfare Organization.
