Original German WWII NSDAP State Day Fringed Podium Banner with Luxembourg Markings dated 1942

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Recently purchased at a militaria show, is this genuine USGI bring back German WWII NSDAP Podium banner. The National Socialist German Workers' Party (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, abbreviated NSDAP), commonly known in English as the NSDAP Party, was a political party in Germany between 1919 and 1945. It was known as the German Workers' Party (DAP) before the name was changed in 1920.

The party's last leader, Adolf AH, was appointed Chancellor of Germany by president Paul von Hindenburg in 1933. AH rapidly established a totalitarian regime known as the Third Reich.

This very impressive banner is single sided red cotton with large gold bullion Swas (Swas) in the middle, with a gold border around the edge, and an impressive gold bullion fringe on the bottom. On the back are a pair of stamps, both reading KREISTAG 1942 / GREVENMACHER, indicating that these were flown for "State Day" in 1942. Grevenmacher is both a district in Luxembourg, and the capitol of that district. Following Luxembourg's invasion in 1940 as a component of the invasion of France, the Grand Duchy was forcibly integrated into Germany as a subordinate state. There is a sleeve at the top for hanging the banner onto the podium. It measures 38"W x 43"L not counting the fringe on the bottom.

Offered in very good condition, there are just a few small stains and holes, as well as some pulling on the bullion. There is also a bit of sticky material on the back, probably from a past mounting with double sided tape. A great example of a hard to find banner!
