Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good service used condition WWII German National Banner, which looks to have been cut off and taken home by a USGI during or after the war. Only one side has a sewn border, with the opposite longer side having lost the stitching. There are some stains and holes on that side consistent with being hung up using tacks. The two short ends definitely look to be cut off / torn.

Overall the banner measures a very displayable 23.5 inches wide by 59 inches long. These were used inside buildings, and possibly on podiums during speeches. It is of all cotton construction, and is single sided with a single piece cotton white circle with a dyed black Swas (Hook Cross) sewn onto the center.

Condition is very good, with some small tears and stains consistent with use in service. There is also some dirt and other soiling, as well as fraying of the edges now that they are not sewn over. This definitely wasn't an example found in storage by USGIs. The colors are very well retained, with minimal age toning to the white circles, and a vibrant red field. As with most we find, there is no maker marking, and there also is no hanger loop or other way of hanging it, as it was torn or cut down.

The NSDAP, Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, (National Socialist German Worker’s Party), was originally founded in Munich as the DAP, Deutsche Arbeiterpartei, (German Worker’s Party), on January 5TH 1919. When Adolf AH joined the DAP in the autumn of 1919 he was to reform what was basically a debating society into an active political party. Appointed as the first chairman of the party on July 29TH 1921 AH was to restructure it along para-military lines in a hierarchy of four levels of government.
