Original German WWII Unit Marked NSFK Glider Pilot Dagger by SMF

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This Glider Pilot's Dagger has never been cleaned and remains in fine, untouched condition.

The mounts are the early nickel type. The pommel cap is the three stage variety, still crisp throughout the edges with no dings.

The crossguard has a crisp center block featuring round medallions with black swass on both sides. The enamel remains very good on these swass. The crossguard arms are the tripartite type, with a downward sweep. One end of the guard is marked K.

The base construction of the grip is of carved wood, slightly bulbous in the center and tapering toward either end. This grip is covered in original blue Moroccan leather which retains all of the grain. This leather is in very good condition.

The scabbard shell is straight throughout and covered in matching blue Moroccan leather; which is in very good condition. The scabbard mounts are nicely patinated and match the hilt mounts. They too are in very good condition, although the lower ball has a tap in the center. The mounts are retained by flat head screws one of which is missing. The throat is stamped with the NSFK Icarus insignia, with a swas at his legs, and F36 in an H letter. At the center of the throat is the stamp E.L. 73 which we believe was a unit marking.

The blade is a nice example with a needle-like tip. This blade is marked on the reverse ricasso with the Seated King trademark of the SMF firm and the original blue leather washer is in place.

A very nice, untouched NSFK Glider Pilot's Dagger with unit marking!
