Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a great "salty" service worn WWII German Wehrmacht Heer (Army) EM/NCO's M44 Belt with a lovely Steel Buckle (Koppelschloß). The buckle is embossed with the Heer motto GOT MIT UNS ("God with us") surrounding a NSDAP Party Eagle. The buckle is a nice 1940 pattern olive painted steel construction box buckle with a smooth background. The paint on the exterior is retained at about 60%, with the raised areas and edges showing paint loss and oxidation. The reverse retains much more of the paint, probably around 90%.
The back of the buckle is nicely stamped with maker mark JFS for Josef Feix & Söhne of Gablonz, in the so-called Sudetenland. The full German name of the city was Gablonz an der Neiße, and today is Jablonec nad Nisou in the Czech Republic. The buckle also still retains its original leather pull tab, which is a bit worn, but still has a maker marking:-

The belt itself measures about 39” in overall length, and is the late ware M44 pattern, which eliminated the tab for length adjustment, instead putting a double row of 8 holes directly into the leather of the belt. This resulted in a more secure connection, and also reduced production time. The belt shows a good amount of service, and has unfortunately become quite stiff over time, which has resulted in two splits in the leather. It is definitely now in delicate condition.
