Original German WWII Wood Handle Trench Fighting Knife with Steel Boot Scabbard

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. Fitted with a single-edged drop point blade, this is an original fighting knife used by the Germans in WWI and then again in WWII. In nice used condition, this knife has a smooth wooden grip secured by three rivets. Grip scales are in good condition, with no cracks or major chips, and a nice color. The blade is full length on the bottom of the blade, while the top has a false edge. The blade has been used, but is still quite sharp and in solid condition, with no edge nicks, just some tip rounding. There are areas of light staining throughout the surface. Overall length is 9 3/4 inches with a 5 1/4 inch blade. No markings are present on the ricasso, which is standard.

The knife comes in an genuine rolled steel WWII scabbard with a spring steel "boot" clip on the back, which would allow attachment to the the side of a boot or to a belt. This style of attachment held by pressure, and could also be mounted on other parts of the uniform. The finish on the scabbard is good, with just a bit of crazing and scratches for most of the body. It does appear to have been repainted at arsenal long ago.

No visible markings but 100% original, a very example for display in any quality German edged weapons collection.
