Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. The cap is constructed of a fine quality Dunkelblau (dark blue) wool top with red wool cap band, both piped in red. The front of the cap exhibits officer style national colors cockade and Wurttemberg cockade. The surface of the visor shows fine age crazing and some flaking. The body of the cap has several small scattered holes. The interior of the cap has a full light blue lining and light leather sweatband, both of which show age, fading and expected wear. The lining has a maker name and city (Ravensburg), though the paint has worn off, so it is very hard to see. Overall the cap is in very good condition and makes a fine appearance. In 1897 a new Reichs-Kokarde in Red-White-Black was introduced for all ranks to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kaiser Wilhelm 1st. The Reichs-Kokarde was to be worn on the right side of the Pickelhaube, and worn centered between the band and the top row of piping on Krätzchen and Schirmmütze. Meanwhile, the state kokarde was to be worn centered upon the lower band.
