Item Description
Original Item. Only One Available. This is a really great piece of WWII American GI artwork, a captured Japanese Bomber Jacket with depot stamps on the front flap, and an American woman painted on the back by the GI. The jacket itself has several field repairs and is a phenomenal piece.
The jacket is tan with a large fur collar and white fur interior, with very faint depot stamps on the front flap of the jacket next to the zipper. There are several rips and tears across the uniform, along with a great deal of stitched areas, almost certainly done in the field or depot. The zippers on the cuffs and pockets are all functional, and bear no markings.
On the back of the jacket, there are obvious remains of a painting of an American woman, likely the soldier’s wife or mother, sent home to her as a souvenir. This is an outstanding and very unique piece, and the depot stamps really tie it all together with provenance. The buttons under the collar are all retained, and the hanging loop is still fully intact. Overall a fine-condition Japanese bomber jacket brought or sent home by an American GI. Ready for further research and display.
