Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good condition genuine WWII issue Japanese rubberized face mask, with metal rimmed clear lenses. The filter can has wonderful paper label with instructions still attached. It is a bit faded, so the "Rising Sun" is very faint, and due to oxidation and wear not all of the characters are visible anymore. There are also markings stamped into the top of the can, one of which is 昭 和 1 7, for the 17th year of the Showa era, or 1942. There is also a maker mark
The rubberized material is still partly soft and pliable, and inside on the left side the mask is maker marked matching the can, and also dated with 昭 和 1 7 for 1942. There is some degradation of the rubber around the edges. The straps are all present and in good condition, though they are not very springy, as the rubber has degraded. The eyepieces have also degraded, as the plastic decomposes over time.
A very nice matched example of a Japanese Gas mask, dated 1942 and ready to display!
