Original Imperial Japanese WWII Gas Mask with Filter and Paper Label - dated 1942

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a good condition genuine WWII issue Japanese rubberized face mask, with metal rimmed clear lenses. The filter can has wonderful paper label with instructions still attached. It is a bit faded, but the the "Rising Sun" is quite vibrant, and almost all of the characters can still be seen. There are also markings stamped into the top of the can, one of which is 昭 和 1 7, for the 17th year of the Showa era, or 1942. There is also a maker mark.

The rubberized canvas mask is still intact, but unfortunately the rubber has hardened and degraded over the past nearly 80 years. This has made it quite brittle, and it can no longer bend much without risking breaking. Inside on the left side the mask is maker marked matching the can, and also dated with 昭 和 1 7 for 1942. T The straps are all present and in good condition, though they are not springy at all, as the rubber has degraded. The right eye piece is still mostly clear, while the has had the plastic lamination degrade, so it is mostly dark.

A very nice matched example of a Japanese Gas mask, dated 1942 and ready to display!
