Original Imperial Japanese WWII Gas Mask with Filter and Partial Paper Label - dated 1941

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very good, near excellent condition genuine WWII issue Japanese rubberized face mask, with metal rimmed clear lenses. The filter can has a wonderful partial paper label with instructions still attached. There are also markings stamped into the top of the can, one of which is 昭 1 6, for the 16th year of the Showa era, or 1941. There is also a maker mark.

The rubberized canvas mask is still fully intact, and unlike so many we see, it is still soft and pliable! There is a bit of light cracking around the very edge, but otherwise it is quite flexible, with even the eye defogging tubes being springy.

Inside on the left side the mask is maker marked matching the can, and also dated with 昭 1 6 for 1941. The straps are all present and in good condition, though only one is still stretchy, as the rubber has degraded. Both eyepieces have had the anti-fog inserts degrade, but can still be seen through for the most part.

A very nice matched example of a Japanese Gas mask in great shape, dated 1942 and ready to display!
