Item Description
Original Item: One of a Kind. We have never seen one of these before, however it bears a serial number of 166 on both bolt and barrel, the receiver not being marked. "IN THE WHITE", never having any blue finish whatsoever rather indicates that this rifle was a factory made sample of this very rare ignition system utilizing a thumb trigger at the rear of the bolt and not beneath the action, making conventional trigger and trigger guard unnecessary. Light colored Walnut Stock with only a small steel finger rest on the underside.
The barrel knoxform is marked PIERI / GLISENTI / 166 on the left side, with the city of BRESCIA marked on the right side. We have found some mention of a maker Glisenti-Pieri or Glisenti/Pieri in our research, but not much, making this a great opportunity for further study.
The feed system is a bolt action, with a cross-hatched lever on the rear of the bolt that when depressed fires the round. As far as we can research this was NEVER ADOPTED by Italy or any other Nation and therefore is a very rare TRIAL'S RIFLE of the 1870s.
In just about MINT Condition, we'll probably never see another. Ready to Display!
