Original Item: One-of-a-kind-set. Here we have a wonderful personal photo album with some professional shots as well as personal snapshots, many of which show members of the Imperial Japanese Army often in company or platoon photographs. There are also several personal photographs, and they were originally in place by corner tabs, many of which have unfortunately come unglued. Some are missing completely, while others are still attached to the photos. There are currently a total of 87 photos in the album, and there may have been more in the past. The book measures about 12" x 9".
There is some writing in areas inside the book, but more importantly, it looks like many of the detached photographs have Japanese writing on the back! We have not been able to translate any of these, as many are in flowing script. This album would make an incredible translation project for those who can read pre-1946 Japanese writing.
Historical records like this album have become priceless time capsules that provide an incomparable level of insight into the individual experience of the Second World War, now that over seventy years have passed.
