Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. A very interesting example of a WWII Civil Defense helmet. It is the final of four variations of the Type 90 Army helmet and was designed specifically for mainland civil defense. Correct brown paint in very good condition with one dent to the top. Inside is a woven wool liner and three hand painted katakana symbols: SHI MA DA. Which translates to "Fukueki suru" which is a personal creed of the soldier who owned it. The soldier basically promised themselves that they would follow any orders they were given.
The crown has a hand painted kanji character that we were not able to translate. The liner is complete and mounted securely. Also included is the complete original chinstrap. This is one of the very best examples of this style helmet we have ever encountered. A rare and little know variation of the military issue type 90 Tetsubo helmet making this example a necessity for any Japanese WW2 headgear collection.
