Janbiya, also spelled janbia, jambiya, and jambia (Arabic: جنبية‎ janbīyah), is the Arabic term for dagger, but it is generally used to describe a specific type of dagger with a short curved blade. The term janbiya is used in various Arab countries and India, it is closely associated with the people of Yemen and is prevalent among Muslim men in the Horn of Africa (primarily the Afars of Djibouti).

This Typical Arab Jambya fighting dagger most probably from French North Africa circla 1890. The 12 1/2 inch steel blade has Arabic writing engraving, along with some angular line decoration. The hilt is of bone also decorated with carvings of lines and circles. Contained in its original embossed brass wood scabbard covered again in all sorts of embossed and engraved decorations and fitted with either side suspension rings.

The Original Arab defense dagger! Overall length approximately 16 inches.
