Item Description
Original Item: One-of-a-kind. Traditional Norwegian Hunting Knives have always been things of beauty and highly desired, the style dating back hundreds of years. This example is possibly the very best specimen we've ever seen.
Single edge 4.5 blade with slight bowie point mounted into a spectacular intricately hand carved stag horn grip with negative space. The scene portrays huntsmen with antique rifles hunting both deer and bear amid scroll foliage. Mounted in silver on both grip ends.
The blade is enclosed in a carved birchwood scabbard cut so very thin that it seems almost impossible to achieve by hand. The scabbard is also mounted in silver with engravings. The bottom with a floral motif and the top with Crowned Royal Norwegian Lion holding a war axe in both front paws.
This little beauty dates from the earlier part of the Victorian era Circa 1850. A lovely high-quality Norwegian hunting knife.
