Item Description

Original Items. Only One Lot Available. This is a great lot of very scarce Rhodesian items from WWII & the Bush War.  The Rhodesian Bush War, also known as the Second Chimurenga, was a civil conflict from July 1964 to December 1979 in the unrecognized country of Rhodesia (later Zimbabwe-Rhodesia and now Zimbabwe).

The conflict pitted three forces against one another: the Rhodesian white minority-led government of Ian Smith (later the Zimbabwe-Rhodesian government of Bishop Abel Muzorewa); Zimbabwe African National Liberation Army, the military wing of Robert Mugabe's Zimbabwe African National Union; and the Zimbabwe People's Revolutionary Army of Joshua Nkomo's Zimbabwe African People's Union.

The war and its subsequent Internal Settlement, signed in 1978 by Smith and Muzorewa, led to the implementation of universal suffrage in June 1979 and the end of white minority rule in Rhodesia, which was renamed Zimbabwe Rhodesia under a black majority government. However, this new order failed to win international recognition and the war continued. Neither side achieved a military victory and a compromise was later reached.

The lot of items include a beautiful Army Service Corps Stable Belt from the Bush War, which is colored in red, yellow, and blue, with leather buckles to tighten it. The belt is in good shape with light cracking on the leather and oxidation on the metal fittings. Also included is a WWII South African Air Force plate in the shape of their insignia. The plate measures 4 x 3¾”. The final item is a beautiful metal mug named on the side:

PRESENTED TO
SSGT TERRY WARWICK
FROM TRG WING 22 SAS

This is a British mug presented to a sergeant of the 22nd Special Air Service, the insignia of which is engraved on the other side of the mug “Who Dares Wins”. This is a really great mug which could use further research. The mug measures 4 x 4½ x 5”.

This is a really great lot of items, ready for further research and display.
