Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a full scale rubber replica non-firing prop gun as used in various Hollywood films. This all rubber example was acquired from the Ellis Props and Graphics liquidation auction. Ellis was the oldest and the largest Prop House in California until its liquidation auctions in late 1999 and early 2000.
This would have been a "background" used prop gun and not a close up camera version. Dozens of background M1917 Rifles props were used in the making of the films. Typically rubber guns are given to actors when they are on vehicles and in faster motion.
The condition is about what you would expect of a prop rifle that continued it’s life after retirement in the hands of children. The bolt handle is missing and the trigger guard is bent, exposing the metal wire structure. The paint is retained throughout but unfortunately the rubber layer is peeling in some areas, exposing the foam inside. The replica sling is in beautiful condition and is constructed of high quality leather and brass fittings.
This would be a great filler piece for your WWI and WWII displays!
The M1917 Enfield, the "American Enfield", formally named "United States Rifle, cal .30, Model of 1917" is an American modification and production of the .303-inch (7.7 mm) Pattern 1914 Enfield (P14) rifle (listed in British Service as Rifle No. 3), which was developed and manufactured during the period 1917–1918. Numerically, it was the main rifle used by the American Expeditionary Forces in Europe during World War I. The Danish Sirius Dog Sled Patrol on Greenland still uses the M1917, which performs reliably in Arctic conditions, as their service weapon.
