Original Item: Only One Available. This is a rather scarce helmet, one of a very small lot of Italian M-33 Helmets which were purchased by Argentina from Italy in the 1930s. They were used up into the late 1940s, when they were subsequently replaced with German style Stahlhelms. If one is fortunate enough to locate an Argentinean M-33, they generally are repainted and feature the Argentinean Roundel painted on the sides of the helmet. What is special about this particular example is that it was never repainted, and exhibits its original paint, and Pre-WWII “Crested Sun” insignia!
The helmet is in overall good condition, retaining its original leather liner (marked size 55), and leather drawstring. The chinstrap is missing, unfortunately, but does not detract from the displayability of the helmet itself.
This is an outstanding example of a very rare helmet, which we have never had the pleasure of offering before! Perfect for the helmet collection! Ready for display!
The Italian Model 1933 Helmet:
The model 1933 was designed by Nicola Leszl for the Mussolini Government, these have become extremely hard to find on the collectors market today. The steel M33 combat helmet was standard issue to the armed forces of Italy during World War II. The helmet bears a riveted vent hole at each side, with a third at the rear. The outer finish of the helmets varied from pre / early War Grigro-verde to late war olive. The interior of the helmet bears an eight-fingered brown leather liner with chinstrap which is broken at one side.
