Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. An excellent example of a WWII Australian Issue Machete, often referred to as a “Machete 15 Inch” in Australian Army parlance. Beautifully marked with a DD Broadarrow and dated 1944. These machetes, especially in this condition, are quite difficult to find on this side of the globe.
This machete is blade marked with “D (broadarrow) D” with “DC-1944” underneath. The DC indicates that this particular example was fabricated by Die Casters Pty Ltd of Melbourne. The machete itself is in beautiful condition, still exhibiting a gorgeous blued finish, original sharpened edge (devoid of knicks!). The original plastic grip scales are in excellent condition, unbroken, and only showing slight wear from handling over the decades.
The sheath is the correct original specimen that matches the machete perfectly. It is the second version sheath which is constructed of canvas, which held up much better in a tropical environment as opposed to the original leather model. There are faint markings on the reverse with an Australian “D (Broadarrow) D” marking faintly visible. The Lanyard cord is undoubtedly period, and appears to have been secured to the pommel of the machete for a very long time.
An excellent example that would be quite difficult to upgrade from! Ready for display!
