Original Spanish 17th Century Infantry Broad Sword circa 1680

Item Description

Original Item: One of a Kind. This is exactly the type of Spanish doubled edged broad sword that the Spanish Colonialists arrived in the New World carrying. Most all of South America, excepting Brazil, central America and Mexico as well as Florida came under the Spanish Boot as they plundered the New World in search of Glory, God, and Gold.

Here is a 32 1/2" double edged blade broad sword measuring 39" in overall length. with a steel double shell guard and correct style bulbous wood grip covered in leather and strapped on four sides with a single bar guard. The sword is well used but still shows its double fullered blade with remains of decorative engravings.

This actually came out of Scotland from an old Armorial display where it was "Claimed" to be from the "SPANISH ARMADA of 1588". I rather think this most likely dates to about 100 years later.

In surprisingly nice neglected condition having hung on some castle wall for maybe three hundred years. Old classic Spanish design ready to display.
