Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is definitely a rare helmet, which we do not expect to see again anytime soon. This is an example of Spain's first model of steel helmet, introduced in 1921 as the Modelo 21. It was only issued for five years being superseded in 1926 by the Modelo 26. Only 12,000 of the M21 helmets were produced and saw service in the Spanish Civil War of the 1930s. While the Modelo 26 is hard to find, the Modelo 21 is virtually impossible. However, that is exactly what we offer here.
After service during the Civil War, it was retained, repainted, and then had a new chinstrap installed with large aluminum rivets. At this time the side of the helmet was marked with the Spanish Air Force emblem, a winged motif under a crown, surrounding one of the rivets.
The interior liner unfortunately has degraded, with the leather having dried out long ago, and part of the liner missing, along with the entire chin strap. However the shell is still in great shape, and retains a lot of the original paint, as shown.
A great chance to pick up a very rare helmet to add to your collection. Ready to display!
