Original Items: Only One Available. An Olive drab Officer's tunic with one Star pip on each sleeve, so it was probably the property of a Lieutenant, made by an Outfitter with the trade label in the neck as follows:-

With Regimental Collar tabs of brass and red enamel, Regimental brass buttons, the wool tunic is moth free and in very good condition. The set comes with his correct Side Cap, also showing one Star pip to front together with the forward hanging Officer's tassel. Complete with Gold piping and leather sweatband the interior is marked:-

The Spanish Civil War started in 1936, after five years of "Republican" left wing rule. The King ALPHONSO XIII had abdicated in 1931, and the Great Depression forced Spain into absolute poverty. The Republican (Communist) Government appealed for help to the Soviet Union whereupon the Right wing FASCISTS rebelled under GENERALISSIMO FRANCISCO FRANCO, who received help from both AH AND BENITO MUSSOLINI. The world looked on for three years as a terrible slaughter took place and eventually the Fascists were victorious. Franco, born in 1892, became Dictator and died in 1975.
