Original Spanish First Melillan Campaign Era Officers’ Scarlet Regimental Shell Jacket

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available. The First Melillan Campaign, also called the Melilla War or the Margallo War (after Juan García y Margallo, the Spanish governor of Melilla whose defeat and death infuriated the Spanish public) in Spain, was a conflict between Spain and 39 of the Rif tribes of northern Morocco, and later the Sultan of Morocco, that began in October 1893, was openly declared November 9, 1893, and was resolved by the Treaty of Fez in 1894.

This Officer’s Regimental Shell Jacket dated to the late 1880s to just about the turn of the century. Unfortunately, there is no definitive uniform guide we could find, so this tunic has been a rather difficult one! The condition is lovely for the age but there is however scattered moth nips throughout and there are a few buttons missing. There are multiple German style award loops stitched into the left side but there are no awards or devices present.

This is definitely an interesting Regimental Coat and has a lot of research potential! Comes more than ready for display and further research.
