Original Spanish/French Rapier circa 1690-1710 Marked Toledo

Item Description

Original Item: Only One Available: This is a truly lovely small sword 39' in overall length with a 32' double edged blade with deep single fuller to either side deeply marked 'TOLEDO' together with Armorer's mark.

The steel hilt is fully worked with silver inlays of human forms and flowers on every possible surface. The grip appears to be tightly wound silver wire most beautifully executed. The blade, of the highest quality, of course is Spanish dating probably from the mid 17th Century but has been mounted in this small sword style very possibly in France around 1690-1720 and typical of the late Louis XIV period. Just the period of the Three Musketeers!

A magnificent Sword worthy of anyone's collection!
