Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a wonderful example of what appears to be a parade or dress bayonet for the Swedish Royal Guards, as there is no latching mechanism on the pommel. The Royal Guards is the King of Sweden's cavalry and infantry guards of honor of the Swedish Armed Forces, tasked with the protection of the Swedish royal family. The Royal Guard is normally divided in two parts, the main guard stationed at the Stockholm Palace, and a smaller detachment at Drottningholm Palace. The Royal Guards unit has continuously guarded the Swedish royal family in Stockholm since 1523.
This bayonet is a German G-3 clone and was used on the Swedish 7.62 mm. NATO caliber AK4 (Automatkarbin 4) selective-fire rifle. The AK4 is a variant of the German G3A3. This example is from the second procurement of the m/1965 bayonet which occurred in 1976. A quantity of the m/1965 bayonets were obtained from Carl Eickhorn Waffenfabrik AG of Solingen, West Germany. This must have been one of the final contracts fulfilled by Eickhorn prior to its bankruptcy. The blade is patterned after the U.S. M4 bayonet-knife and very finely made, being left in the white.
A lovely, rather hard to find example with scabbard and leather belt attachment. Comes more than ready for further research and display.
