Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is from an old helmet collection we recently purchased, and the previous owner had purchased it at auction in 1971.
It is a Swedish Model 1921 steel helmet. First designed in 1916 having witnessed the carnage in WW1, adopted in 1921 hence the Model 1921(16) and finally put into production in 1923. Made at the ESKILSTUNA Factory in Sweden this remained current issue until 1945. This is the earliest version, with the more pronounced crest and wider skirt around the bowl. There were further updates of a minor nature in 1926 and 1928.
It features a leather three pad leather liner similar to the German WW1 helmet and to the front displays a truly impressive large gilt/brass Police Helmet Badge of a CROWN over an oval containing THREE CROWNS and a variant pair of crossed ROMAN FASCES (a bundle of rods bound bound together with a protruding axe head as a symbol of Authority). The helmet is painted black, correct for police issue.
In very nice wearable condition ready to display.
