Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This came out of our big gun buy over over 200 units that had been in storage for nearly 100 years. It is a very nice U.S. made 16 gauge double barrel "hammerless" shotgun. Instead of the previous external hammers, this example has internal firing pins, which could not get caught or broken as easily. It features twin 30" barrels and measures 46" in overall length, with a top break lever, and safety behind that.
Both SIDE LOCK Plates are signed BAKER GUN CO., and the fore stock fitting, receiver and barrels are all marked with serial number 1979. The Baker Gun Company worked in Marathon, New York starting in 1870 and then moved to Syracuse, New York from 1880 until 1882.
In basically good condition, showing some pits on the outside of the barrel and general wear, appears fully working and has come out of the attic after
many years of storage. Ready to display or fully restore, an elegant old lady....
