Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This is a great example of a Colonial Era British or American trade tomahawk. The head is in remarkable condition with some pitting and does appear to be ground dug. The handle does appear to be original and well preservered, something rarely encountered!
This example appears to be ground dug, as there are signs of very old pitting present on the head. The handle is original and does have cracking with wood loss present. The head of the tomahawk is approximately 4” in length with an edge width of 2 ¾” with a handle length of 12”. There is a blacksmith marking present that reads as ‘JR’ though we have not been able to locate solid information on this marking.
This is a beautiful example of a Revolutionary War era Colonial blacksmith made tomahawk! Comes more than ready for display.
