Item Description
Original Item: One-of-a-kind. These are a rare example of a homemade lead knuckle duster dating from the American Civil War. Made by melting down lead bullets, these were moderately popular for close combat during the war, and could easily be made with the heat from a camp fire. These are quite smart looking, and appear to have been hand carved after the original casting.
The knuckles measure 4 inches wide by 3 inches high and 1/4 inches thick. See others similar in Civil War Collector's Encyclopedia by Francis A. Lord, p. 156.
