Item Description
Original Item: Only One Available. This started out life as a standard British P-1853 Percussion Rifle Musket, probably imported for use in the Civil War
with its markings removed. This was common when shipping arms to conflict areas, as suppliers did not want to be associated with the "losing" side.
After the war was over, this Enfield was then cut down to half stock for Civilian use as a smooth bore fowling piece, or for possible trade to the Indians in the West. It features a Brass butt plate and trigger guard and one iron barrel Badderly barrel band remaining, with the barrel now 32" in length and 48" overall. It looks like there was a forward cleaning rod pipe attached to the barrel, but the cleaning rod and pipe are now missing.
From over 100 years storage, uncleaned, action works fine, great to restore and display!
