Original Item: Only One Available. This is the most commonly encountered Absterdam projectile pattern. This example is missing the Absterdam fuze but the threading is still present. Stamped into the brass sabot is ABSTERDAM'S PATENT FEB. 23, 1864. John Absterdam's patent for this projectile was #41,668. These projectiles were designed to be used with the U.S. Model 1861 3-inch Ordnance Rifle. which was the most widely used rifled gun of the American Civil War. This example is offered in very good condition complete with brass sabot.
