Original Item: Only One Available. Found in a private collection that originally acquired this fabulous item nearly 20 years ago. This is an Original New Jersey made (TRENTON) Presentation Grade Officer's Sword dating from the U.S. Civil War.
Quality engraved 32" blade showing large U.S. surrounded by stands of arms and foliate decoration, complete with a motto in panel "One and Inseparable". The blade bears the maker's name of "EMERSON & SILVER of Trenton, N.J." and is engraved "IRON PROOF" on the rear edge.
The brass guard originally gilt also bearing oak leaf decorations and a large Eagle over shield motif surrounded by arms. The grip is of beautifully bound Silver retaining the original gilt brass bindings. This sword comes with its original Presentation scabbard with intricately molded and decoration brass mounts, also originally gilt and is in original un-cleaned condition showing a hundred and fifty years of patina and never having been in a restorer's hands.
Right out of the attic, so to speak, this Union Presentation Grade Officer's Sword is totally untouched showing only slight pitting remains on the forward portion of the blade, otherwise in near excellent condition.
